A new tool for fatigue cycling of dental materials and structures.

The Fatigue Tester uses powerful solenoids to provide smooth loading to levels of up to 400N. The force levels are displayed and controlled on a personal computer. Up to four specimens at a time can by cycled while suspended in 37'C water.

No more tying up your single-axis test machine for weeks! With the Fatigue Tester, the loading routine can be varied to apply a sinewave, triangular or step wave at frequencies up to 2Hz and cycle from 10N to 350N. Closed-loop control is provided by in-line load cells to continuously calibrate the individual coils.

The control software, DasyLab by IOTech, comes installed on a new Pentium computer. This flexible and intuitive control package uses a PID command algorithm for fast, accurate loading of the specimens. It allows the user to easily configure new test conditions and display arrangements using a drag-and-drop intererface. Or use the included templates for standard tests. The system also has the ability to monitor four additional analog and four digital inputs for recording specimen damage or failure.

The Fatigue Tester load frame with specimen chambers.
The Fatigue Tester control panel allows independent control of each station's frequency, load level and cycle limit.
Compression Platens:  A set of stainless steel clamps firmly hold specimens mounted in 12 or 18mm rings. Use these to accommodate natural teeth, restored teeth or crowns for testing.
Angled Crown Loading Fixtures:  A set of aluminum clamps firmly hold specimens mounted in 12 or 18mm rings at a 45' angle. This test can examine the effect of off-axis loading on crowns and restored teeth.
Shear Fatigue Cycling Fixtures:  opening a vital new realm of adhesive dental research, these fixtures hold 25mm rings in a shear testing configuration.
Flexural Loading Fixtures:  three and four-point loading on a 25 mm span can now be done easily and effectively.

The Fatigue Tester is individually crated and shipped to your location. It can be easily assembled and operated by laboratory personnel using the included instruction manual. Or an on-site installation and training visit can be arranged.

The instrument and all of its components are covered by a six month parts and labor warranty.

The machine consists of the computer, the power supply/control console (which is attached to the CPU of the computer), the test frame with four test stations. Select the options to equip the system to meet your testing requirements.
